I'm OK started on a drive home that took longer than it needed to. Not because of traffic. Because I kept going. The city was empty, the lights were still on, and for about twenty minutes nothing was asking anything of me.

That is the whole song. It is not about being fine. It is about the moment you stop needing to be. The synths stay low for most of it on purpose. The lead only opens up once, near the end, and then it goes back under, because that is how those nights actually go.
